Aleesa Cohene is a fabulous Canadian media artist who turned her deep community roots into a committed video art headturning momentum. She often works with “found footage”, especially from the 80s+90s, taking small snippets of a face, a hand, a figure standing in the doorway, and collaging them together to create new conversations. What are we afraid to talk about? What can’t I show you? Aleesa’s generous and quick-witted pictures offer us new paths to reflect on power and sexuality.
